The challenge of this project was to design
a prototype of salad servers to be sold at a gift trade show to
an unidentifiable end user. After studying anthropometrics of
a human hand, the act of tossing and serving, history of utensils
and existing market products, I designed and carved the salad
servers from basswood as well as created an appropriate packaging
identifying the product, manufacturer, logo, price, etc. I solidified
my knowledge of the design process, strengthen 2D and 3D design
skills as well as expended the understanding of how wood can be
shaped and manipulated. |
